New 500.000 tpy hot rolling mill starting its commissioning phase at Al-Oula Steel Manufacturing Company K.S.C.
The mill, which will serve the local and foreign market, can produce re-bars from 8 to 40 mm dia., in lengths up to 14 m, starting from 150 mm square billets.
The mill is composed by 18 stands, housing-less type, arranged in H and V configuration, including:
-highly efficient in-line thermo-processing system
-bar delivery system at high speed
-automatic cutting to length, bundling, tying and weighing area
Smaller sizes are rolled in single slit mode at 25 m/s, allowing for fully exploiting the re-heating furnace capacity for all the product range with the only exception of 8 mm, for which the exploitation is slightly lower.
Single slit rolling and single strand in combination with the bar delivery system at high speed allow for easy bar down-sizing and strict tolerances, as well as better quality of the finished product.
All the equipment have been entirely engineered and manufacturer at the NCO’s headquarters in Italy, preassembled and tested prior to delivery, in order to ensure reduced erection time, higher reliability and lower maintenance and operational costs.
The new plant automation, supplied by NCO as well, ensures consistent quality, high utilization factor and yield, workshop coordination and link to plant digitalization to meet industry 4.0 demand. Modern roll shop, part of the NCO’s supply, together with the NCO’s rolling guides, grants highest mill utilization and facilitate the production of small steel lots as well as frequent size changes, to quickly satisfy the requests of the market.
The advisory services to erection and on-site training provided by NCO are allowing for a quick plant commissioning.
Production start-up is expected in 2nd quarter 2023.
